San Jose Up

Ult's Give-Away List

I've lived in the South Bay for about ten years. In late September of 1998 I began a sabbatical from my job at Storm Technology (and from the rest of Silicon Valley) to spend a year traveling around the country.

A Typical Day in San Jose

Usually my day would begin by waking up. That would be immediately followed by hitting the snooze button. Repeat. Eventually I would stumble out of bed, and perform what they call morning ablutions and make my toilet, the latter of which sounds like I build a bathroom but really just means I shave and get dressed, according to our friends at Merriam Webster.

Once all these rituals are complete, I would drive to work. There, on a typical day, I would read my accumulated e-mail, visit with my next-cube-neighbors Branka and Charley, and then settle down for a solid fifteen minutes of concentrated productivity before lunch time.

After lunch, the rest of the day would be followed by similar cycles of e-mail, goofing off, and then a focused flurry of compressed programming power.

Anyway, after work I might go to dinner with Jeff or Matt (until he moved to Seattle, the bastard). Or I might stop by Darcy's house on the way home to have an argument about the merits of Joseph Campbell or Jerry Springer, or rent a movie.

Then, home again, home again, jiggity jig (not to be confused with Will Smith's "jiggy", which I wouldn't be caught doing on my way home, particularly if I knew what it was).
